Houseboats in Kashmir
Kashmir, the paradise on earth, rightly termed as the "Switzerland of the East" is the crown on the map of India. Structure

Normally the house boat have the following, an entrance veranda, drawing room, dining room, 3 to 4 living room with attached bathroom and a front lake view balcony.

The house boat owners are local people and normally live with their families on the ground floor of the boat house. Three meals are served daily from a menu of western, Kashmiri and Indian cuisine. Shikara is a Gondala type light rowing boat comfortable for the interior rides of the Dal lake, seeing the market place and the floating gardens.

All modern amenities are available for the travellers comfort like the television, telephone and sofas. Even fruits and handicraft sellers come to the boat for selling the items worth buying. The charges of the houseboats includes all meals served to the visitors and all crossing overs made on the shikara to and fro from the mainland.
